Video production - Representations of youth...
Now it's time to put all that you have learned about representations into your own media products. We will begin with a group video production task.
You can work in groups of 2-4 to create a short video production focusing on a representation of youth. Some guidelines may be shared with you as we will likely enter our videos in the annual 'Kempe' and 'Get Ya Head Right' video competitions.

Create a movie poster for your group film or your athletics day clip. You should complete this task individually.
Learning Intention:
To apply relevant media technologies in the construction of a selected representation.
Follow these steps to assist in the production of your poster;
1. Check out lots of existing movie posters on the internet. Make a note of how movie posters of a particular genre often apply similar layout conventions.
2. In your workbook, brainstorm possible ideas for your poster. When doing so, consider the audience. What will the poster say about the film, the characters, the plot etc. Complete a series of sketches to visualise your ideas.
3. Plan a photo shoot to capture your images for the poster. We will go over some essential photography skills in class. However you might like to undertake some research about Shutter speed, Aperture, ISO etc.
4. Use Photoshop to apply 'enhancements' such as airbrushing and lighting effects to selected images. Again, some of these skills will be covered in class.
5. Apply text to your poster which is consistent with layout and other design conventions specific to the genre. Remember to include info such as release date, actors, award nominations, credits (directed by) etc

grindhouse movie posters...
Now is the time to create a 'grindhouse' style movie poster for your group film. You should complete this task individually. You may like to make more than one poster and select the best one for assessment.
Take some time to check out some original grindhouse posters on the internet. Also, check out the Something Awful Photoshop Phriday competition in which people were asked to give otherwise respectful films the look of low budge exploitation flicks.
