Student filmmaking at Surf Coast Secondary College will not include guns, drug use, excessive or gratuitous violence, nudity, sex scenes, driving, suicide, the consumption of alcohol, use of cigarettes, any illegal or potentially dangerous acts or any acts that may be deemed inconsistent with the values of our community. Think about what you are going to make, it's a reflection on yourself and our school.
I HAVE EXPLAINED THE PDP FOR YOU
COMING UP WITH THAT IDEA...
1. The SPARK- This will form Part of your INSPIRATION section of your PDP
It can be difficult to get that inital idea for such a big project, but complete this activity and you will be closer!
COLLECT at least FIVE images that inspire you in some way, that have SOMETHING (anything!) that you may want to include in your product. IT could be a prop, a line of dialogue, a camera technique, or costume. It doesn't need to be everything in the image, just one small element.
STICK these images in your PDP and ANNOTATE the image. Detail, what aspects you like about it and how this may influence your final product.
FOR EXAMPLE:

FOR EXAMPLE:
I really like the idea of shooting someone through glass, or even in a mirror. It creates an idea of a barrier between them and the world, or them and the audience. I also think it is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I would have to be careful of the reflection of the camera in the glass or mirror.
The costumes here are sweet, innocent and full of life and creativity; which are elements that i want my main protagonists to have.
2. Brainstorm
There are lots of different ways you can document your brainstorming. Choose what ever style suits you and your content. Look through the examples below to help you.
What can i brainstorm?
- Genre conventions
- Possible storylines
- Advantages and disadvantages for different ideas
- Possible locations
- Possible fonts

3. Inspiration
No media maker creates a completely original product. In fact, good media makers are constantly inspired and take from the world around them and other media makers. Be proud of this, and document it in your PDP. If you have a favourite director that will inpisre you, document it!

5. Treatment
A treatment is an overview or outline of what the audience will see. It is what you would give someone as a pitch, or to convince them to fund your project.
What do i need to do?
Write 1-2 paragraphs that describes what your audience will encounter with your media product. For film, it will be the plot, and what the viewer will see on the screen; the opening shot, when we are first introduced to a character, some of the music, what ever is relevant in giving someone a vision of you product. For print, it is the how the product will look, the spacing, fonts, content of of course images.

Student FILMS (for inspiration!)
This can be the hardest part, but don't worry about coming up with a complete and total idea. Start gathering small ideas, such as a particular camera or editing technique you want to use, a particular prop, or setting.
Start collecting INSPIRATION and gluing this into your PDP. This can be; images, other films, words, lyrics, anything!
Using other short films is also a great way to start thinking about what you like and also, don't like. Here are a few suggestions:
1. Old Friend (music video)
